Reflection on Modules 3 & 4
Through the module Knowledge and Clinical Judgement, I was able to learn more about the use of critical thinking in nursing practice as well as more about different learning styles. Personally I am an auditory and tactile learner as I feel like I am able to better grasp concepts when I am able to work them out physically or through talking them out with others. By knowing my own learning style I can practice important skills in nursing and study in a more efficient manner. As for critical thinking skills, I often use these when in clinical. In practice, one often has to think on their feet as to what would benefit the patient the most in terms of treatment. Through the use of critical thinking, one can look at multiple possibilities and determine what the best course of action is.
As for the last module, Priority Setting Frameworks, I was able to review important concepts like ABC’s and Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs which are very important when practicing nursing. ABC’s, which stands for Airway, Breathing, Circulation, is an important concept in terms of evaluating emergency situations. By going through this checklist you can reduce life-threatening emergencies. As for Maslow’s, this helps one evaluate a patient’s needs in which if their physiological needs are not met then they can not meet higher up needs like love and belonging or safety and security. Maslow’s can be used in developing patient care plans in terms of meeting a patient’s needs as much as possible. Through both modules, I was able to learn more important skills that I can continue to use throughout nursing school and eventually in practice.

Abigail, you did a nice job on module 3 really reflecting on your own learning and how you will use it. On module 4, you talked about what the module offered, but less about what you learned.
