Final Reflection

Final Reflection

Throughout this team project, I have learned many things. The most important thing I have learned is teamwork and collaboration. An important aspect of completing a common goal is that everyone contributes and brings their own strengths to the assignment. By completing the influence paper as a group, I have been able to witness how this occurs. Our topic for the influence paper was Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) in which one day I hope to work with infants in the nursing practice. Through this project, I was able to learn about the neurodevelopment of these infants born with NAS and will now be able to apply what I researched into practice in the near future. What I would want my future employer to know in regards to my capacity to contribute to this project, is my capability of conducting research and gathering useful information for practice. Not only did this project help me strengthen my research skills but it also helped me with collaboration and applying research to nursing.

In the beginning my team didn’t have much of a process in terms of working on the influence paper project. We quickly came to learn it was easiest to divide up the work early so that everyone could work on the project when they had free time. This was primarily due to schedule conflicts and that it was difficult to find time for us all to sit down and go through each step of the process. However, we did still continue to communicate throughout the process and ultimately finish the project to the best of our ability. Looking back on each step of the process, I believe my team chose an effective method for us all which was ultimately successful in completing the final product. Individually as a team member, I discovered my capability to find useful articles and summarize them concisely and effectively. Though I have never considered one of my strengths research, I believe this project projected some of my strengths and allowed me to learn from my mistakes as well. Ultimately, this project taught me a lot about myself and the research process in which I will carry what I learned into future practice.
